Hello all! Thank you Eric for making this blog for us! Casey is in high spirts and ready to start Chemo tomorrow. The surgery went well and they got all the cancer out of the testical area, however its more progressed then we were first told. It has spread to the lymph noids in the back and a few spots in the liver. Thank God we caught it before it took over. We did get some good news today, that he gets to do the first 5 days of Chemo as an out patient at Metro Hospital instead of the original plan of staying the whole 5 days. So this means 6 hours at the hospital everyday for 5 days and then he can go home in the afternoon and not miss any of the holiday fun. We are hoping that all the new drugs will make it so that he isnt as sick. This is a seminoma cancer which has a very very high cure rate of 80%. So as cancers go this is the best to have. This will be a 3 month process. Also there is a benefit in the works for Feb. but date will be announced soon! They are looking for that will hold 300 plus people. Wow!! We have truly been blessed by family and friends! Thank you everyone and God Bless!!

Hey Casey! It has been a long time since I heard your name but I do remember you being greatly feared on the little league baseball diamond. I and my family are praying for you that you would know Jesus truly holds everything together and in this time where things may be a bit unclear He is not far off but as near as your breath man! I am praying for healing and for God to cover you and your family in His love.
Thanks Angie for keeping me in the loop!!

Casey & Kerri, I'm so glad you have gotten through the first big treatment, with little side effects! I'm sure you are beat from spending the last five days at the hospital. I was thinking, I'll bet the dr's & nurses love you two! I can just imagine you guys up there joking around, etc. I hope you are able to get a good nights sleep & enjoy Christmas day with your family tomorrow! I'm really hoping to come visit within the next week or two if you are up to it. I love you guys & am praying for you continually every day. Love you!!!! Angela

Casey & Kerri Willett said...

Hello All!! Casey has been doing really well. He becomes very tired and just flops down and sleeps. Not alot of side effects so far, He says that his feet feels like he is walking on stone. Very little stomach problems and some headaches. But all in all he feels pretty normal. He has a Chemo I.V. monday, that will only take about an hour. Then another one of those the following monday. Then he will be on to his next five big days again the following week. We will let you know if we will be in the hospital or not. The doctors office doesnt want us to have Out patient there without some sort of insurance. Huge financial risk for them. I guess they figure that the hospital can take it better then them. Whatever!! Hope everyones Christmas was super! We had a great day with the kids and family. We had quite a ride on Sunday in the storm. Hope all of you made it home safe.
**** We have great news! The benefit has been set up...Saturday the 9th of Feb. at the Rockford American Legion. 12:00 pm till ?. Thank you Cherie Harb, Barb Devries and Rick Greenland for all your hours and hard work! When I have all the details Ill post them! Take Care everyone and God Bless! Kerri

Hey guys! I'm so glad to hear everything is going well so far. I am so thankful that you are having hardly any side effects. You have so many people praying for you and I'm sure you can tell. That's so great you have a place for the benefit. Is this the new place on Northland Drive? I've been thinking of you guys a lot & wondering if your up for visitors? Love you guys! Let me know what I can do to help. Ange

You know, Casey, once you get rid of all that annoying hair, you'll be able to try out for a spot with the Chippendales! :) Stay Happy! We love you! Mom, Faith

Casey & Kerri Willett said...

Hello again all!! Wanted to update everyone... Casey's whiteblood count is going down due to the chemo so his hair is falling out. He was a little down about that even thou he didnt have much upstairs. It was the all over effect that was kinda depressing. We shaved it all off and like my mom says he can now try out for the Chippindale dancers like he has dreamed of since he was a boy!! LOL! But really he is doing pretty good. Still having sickness at night. He starts his next 5 day Chemo next monday. He isnt looking forward to that at all. He really has to watch out for colds and flu's because he can really get sick and not get rid of them now. So he is washing his hands like a mad man. Please keep up the upbeat calls and visits he is feeling restless without being able to work.
*** Again the Benefit is Feb 9 2008 at the American Legion in Rockford. All donations will go into the Casey Willett Fund at "Chase Bank" They are still looking for folks to help out. Also Big news my friend Leah has donated a Taco Bar from Taco Bell to feed 300-400 people!! There are so many that have donated there time and money already its been just a huge blessing to us. Thank you Thank you Thank you. I cant say enough how much it means to us!
Tell later then! Take Care

Hey Caey and Kerri,

Have been thinking about you alot. I spoke with Kim Bronkema(Dyer) on Tuesday of this week and she wanted me to tell both of you that she and her husband Andy are praying for you and have you in their thoughts. Kerri, I was unable to make it to the meeting at the Legion Thursday, but I'm planning on giving Cherie a call to see where I can be of most help. Please know you can call me anytime and I will be there for you. Stay strong.

Hi Casey and Kerri!
This is Chris (Brown) Karlson....I am so happy to hear about the progress so far! I am a little embarrassed. I sent a message in mid December and being the computer illiterate that I am I must not have done it right!!LOL I didn't realize it until I just got on and checked your blog. Oh, well. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I am so touched by your attitudes and by the notes of support from others. It is so great to have such a great support network. My sister-in-law worked in a pediatric oncology ward for 25 years at U of M and she said the people who do the best are the ones who have a the following things:
Faith in God
Support(family and friends)
and
A Good Attitude

Sounds like you have all three! Even better....it sounds like your supporters have faith, too! My family and I are praying for you.

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him [be] glory....." Ephesians 3:20-21a

A couple of messages I read were in regards to your attitude...that is something I always remember about you guys. Your fun and outgoing attitudes. I bet Ange is right....they are enjoying you guys in the hospital. Though they will enjoy it even more to see you leaving healthy and strong when all this is over. I am so excited to hear about the benefit, too! I was planning on coming but now am not sure. My daughter has Winterfest(like sweatheart swirl) that weekend. Well, you guys hang in there and keep up the great attitude and prayer! God is faithful! Love, Chris

Hey all. Just talked with Kerri & she wanted me to update you all: First of all, Casey's doc says he is doing exceptionally well, praise God! His white blood cell counts are higher. Keep praying, pray that he would be protected from any illness going around, and continue praying for healing. There will be a final meeting on Thursday, January 24th at 5:30, the American Legion in Rockford on Northland drive. If you can't be there at 5:30, come when you can. Last time we were there until about 7:30. Also, they are still looking for donations. Donations may be dropped off at the Rockford Bus Garage, or contact Laurie Willett 366-2440, or Cherie Harb 855-1101. We still need a clean up crew for the benefit. If you can help in any capacity, please let us know. You can email me too at athompson1094@sbcglobal.net

I am glad to hear you are keeping your spirits up and I know you will get through this fine. Take care of yourself and I will see you in Feb.

Hey Casey. It's Tony Eadie. The last time we spoke was about 6 years ago when I was living in Baltimore. I live in Sparta now. I tried to call you about 9 months ago to see if you wanted to get together for a beer but I'm not sure if you got my message. Anyhow, I just heard about what has been going on through myspace and I will certainly be there Feb. 9th. I've known you since kindergarten and I know that you will beat this s*&t. My parents said to tell you hi. Take care and I hope to see you soon. Tony
p.s. You are in my prayers as well.

Casey, Kerri and family, Carin is smarter than I am and figured out how to do this whole blogging thing before me. I don't even know what to say other than you have been in my thoughts and prayers constantly. Everytime I think of you, I picture you laughing and having fun (and other stuff that your kids would probably be interested to hear about!!!:) I pray that you get well soon and continue laughing and loving life like you always have. I work for a broadcasting company that broadcasts highschool sports (especially Rockford) called Michigansportsradio.com. I hope it's ok, but I am going to have the announcers (Brock Konkle and Chuck Johnson)ask everyone for their prayers and (and hopefully, donations too...during the games). We'll get the word out about your benefit Feb 9th! I will definitely be there!!!(Crap, I am going to have to go on a diet!)
Again, you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I know you guys can pull through this- Kerri, God made you tough... ( I am still a little scared of you from highschool- I'll pull it together before the 9th though, I think I could take you now haha!!! :)Anyway, you keep up that spirit and it will serve you well during this time. We're all thinking of you guys and don't be afraid to call on people for help.
Love ya-
Heidi Haas

*** Casey just got done with his second 5 day Chemo treatments.. This one kinda took its toll on him. Really really tired and sick to his stomach. But not all the time, he feels pretty normal in between. His white count is hanging in there so that is really good. He is still in really great spirits. For the first time since he was 14 he doesnt have to shave. Still has his eyebrows and eye lashes, he's hoping they will stay. Please keep up the phone calls and such! You can reach him at 240-3815 this is my phone, his phone is on the blink but still able to check his voicemail on his line.
***Once again there is a meeting this Thursday at 5:30 at the legion to get things hashed out for the benefit. If you can help

Kerri prints the messages from the blogs off at work to bring home to Casey. It would be great if you could send a note of encouragement to them through snail mail too their address is: 8402 22 Mile, Sand Lake, MI 49343. Phone 240-3815. Thank you so much! Hi casey and Kerri,
This is Sharlene (Demorest) Hamilton (I go by my nickname Charlie---I am in the Army and the guys find it easier to handle :-)). I read about your illness in the online version of the Rockford Squire. I have not been back there in years as I joined the Army and left the week after graduation and have been on the move since. I now live near Washington D.C.
We ran in different social circles in school but I remember Casey being a huge athlete and always joking around...like some of the other ladies I was a little intimidated by Kerri as well...She still sounds tough though!!! :-) taking care of Casey and children is a hard job! I cannot attend the benefit, however I did talk to Laurie on the phone and she gave me an address to send my donation. I wish there was more I could do. My husband, children and I will keep you in our prayers.

God Bless you and keep you,

Charlie

I have been praying for you with all that I have and God DOES wonderous things! It sounds like you have a wonderful wife and children. Family and friend are one of the best gifts God gives us and it sounds like you have alot. I will continue to pray for you and hope to see you on the 9th.

Hi Casey and Kerri- hope you guys are hanging in there with this week's chemo treatments.
I just wanted to let everyone know that we are having our final meeting on thursday, the 7th @ 5:30pm at the American Legion- we still need some helpers for the event itself and clean-up. Also, anyone who is donating something for the silent auction, please get in touch with Rick or Heidi Greenland, and let them know what it is so they can include it in the brochure. Also, you can contact me and I will put your donated item in the storage container that we have set up in the parking lot of the American Legion- 616 970-4192.
We have some great stuff to auction off, but we can always use more! We want to make this as beneficial for Casey and Kerri as possible- so dig deep, call your friends, show-up for a great time on Saturday!!! As always, thoughts and prayers are with you Casey!

Hi all. I spoke to Kerri today. They are at the hospital for Casey's chemo treatment. She wanted to say hello to everyone & to ask that you all keep spreading the word about the benefit. They are both looking foward to seeing everyone on Saturday & can't wait! Thank you to everyone for being a part in this.

I am asking that you would keep Casey & Kerri in continued prayer. Casey has had a rough week so far. As most of you know Kerri injured her ankle a few weeks ago and went to the ortho doc yesterday. It sounds like they won't even know the extent of the damage until the swelling can go down, they are thinking tendons, etc have been injured. Casey's white blood cell count is down, which is completely normal going through chemo. Please pray for a covering of protection over them & healing to take place.

Kerri also wants to say THANK YOU to the mystery person who has been plowing their driveway. What a blessing!

Cannot wait to see everyone Saturday! Love, Angela

Casey - You may/may not remember me, but I am Sarah (Sims's) mom..Judy. I hope to come to your benefit tomorrow, but if I dont, you know we are practically neighbors...I will be in touch somehow, but just want you to know you are in my thoughts.

Casey - geez oh Pete, I'm not Sarah Sims' mom..I'm her sister..it was nice seeing you at your function..like I said, feel free to stop by anytime!.

Hi Casey and Kerri - it has been a long time!

I hope the benefit was a HUGE success yesterday - I am sorry that I wasn't able to make it (I live in Colorado). I asked my brothers Ken and Andy and my sister-in-law Amy to let you know that our family is keeping you in our thoughts and we wish you well.

Stay strong!
Best,
Chris (Jacobs) Landrum

Hello Casey & Kerri. It's sure been a while. Just heard from Angela that you weren't well. Living in Florida definitely has its drawbacks. Never hear anything! Just wanted to let you know you will be in my prayers. Remember if God leads you to it, He'll lead you through it. Stay strong and know there is a higher power involved. Hope to see everyone soon at the reunion. All my love.

Willie...... Sorry I could not make the benefit, I am a little sick with the flu bug going around and was not about to bring that to the event. I did however have my brother and some of his friends go in my place so I really hope it helped. I hope to see you soon and catch up a little when your feeling better.

Whoa!!!! What a great turn out for your benefit! Why am I always amazed when God is so faithful! You guys are loved :-) Casey you look awesome. It was great to see you. You haven't changed since high school. I recognized your voice before I even saw your face. Funny how you remember things like that. Hey, I was so excited that I actually remembered almost everyones names! That's amazing for me since I can't remember someones name 3 sentences after I've been introduced to them! Ha Ha! I would have loved to visit with you guys more but I know you were really busy visiting with all your peeps. One thing I noticed during the course of the day in watching your kids and even talking to your daughter (by the way, Kerri, she is soooo sweet) and seeing all those people who came to support you is that you are extremely loved and blessed! As I talked to people that day I heard about the spouses and children they have and it was so cool. We really are blessed. I hope you both enjoyed yourselves and my prayer is that you were blessed both financially and by the outpouring of love from your friends, family, neighbors and community!
Love, Chris (Brown) karlson

I would just like to say that I'm very proud of the way you all behaved Saturday night! There was a close call when I arrived and Kip tongued me...but crisis adverted.

I'm a little wary about a 20th Reunion this year...or should I be facinated about how the evening will end up?

Thanks for reminiscing with me at the bar afterward Greg and Tommy, I missed you as soon as you left. (I was secretly hoping for a repeat "butt print and T-shirt" adventure...)

I'd like to invite you all to keep in touch with me via email. Should you find yourself in the Metro Detroit area, let me know. I'm always open to the next great adventure...

Casey, I've known you since kindergarten at Lakes ES and on through the middle school, jr. high and high school. None of the good things have changed about you. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a close to this chapter in your life. Thank you for bringing "class of '88" together again. We owe you that.

Hugs and Kisses to you all,

Hi Casey and Kerri-
I know that this hasn't all been fun for you guys and I hope you know that you are still in my thoughts & prayers- but it has been so cool to see everyone and talk back and forth with people that I have lost touch with. As far as the reunion at your house- I'm in. (Hopefully Casey isn't passed out in his garage like he was last time:)We continued partying at other houses around Rockford by the way...-yep, I even vaguely recall driving through a cornfield as it was getting light out the next morning??? I will not reveal the names of the other individuals in the car(s) to protect the guilty :)
I hope you guys are doing ok- don't think that I am done helping- I have enjoyed being a part of everything and am happy to help wherever I can. I have been in the position of having to accept help (major housefire/ 3yrs. ago)- I didn't realize that if I didn't let people help me, that I was robbing them of a truly rewarding feeling- so remember that... You guys are doing me the favor- I am getting the opportunity to "pay it forward"...
Peace,
Heidi

I truly apologize for hijacking Casey's blog...

I have been in contact with many of you by phone or email, but there is still a great many of you out there that this is the only way I can get you some greatly tragic news:

Betsy TenElshof Hart was found unconsious by her daughter on the morning of 2/20/08, she was rushed to the hospital where they determined that she was not breathing on her own and her heart had stopped. They were able to revive her and put her on life support. Over the night her organs began failing...

Today 2/21/08, Betsy was determined by neurologists that she is brain dead and will not recover from her condition. Her family is at her bedside now and the Dr.s feel she will not survive the day today.

Many of you have prayed so hard for her in the last 24hours, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Also, thank you from her two young daughters Shelby and Sofie, they are devastated. There will be funeral arrangements and I encourage you to call me at 248-227-0835 if you would like to attend. I have no details at this time.

Hey there Casey and Kerri. I just found out about this blog yesterday........I guess I join the semi computer illiterate group in our class. I guess we're not COMPLETE losers like we were told though huh. :) I am so thrilled and amazed by the outpouring of prayers and love that is being sent to you and your family. I've known Casey since kindergarten at Lakes and he's never seemed like someone to be knocked down. With all the positive "mojo" (for a better word) being sent your way you can't help but be lifted up. I believe that people can be gods angels where when you may find it difficult to walk......they can carry you. May all of us help carry you and your family through this time. You are all indeed in my prayers. Take care and keep that great attitude you've always had.

Peace and blessings.. Kelly (Boese)Faulkner

Hello again, Im not sure how many are still out there checking in on this blog.. Life goes on huh. But wanted to update just in case. Casey had a CT last week and got the results today.. The cancer is gone from his liver, and his lungs are clear. All blood work is perfect. However the mass in his back is still there by half. The doctor says there are one of two things that can happen from here. ONE: What is left is just scar tissue and it will just hang there for the rest of his life and do nothing.. TWO: It will start to grow again now that there is no Chemo going on. He has a CT in six weeks to see what it is going to do. So its hurry up and wait once again! Not what we wanted to hear but better than a kick in the butt! Take care everyone! Kerri

That is awesome news! I'll be sending extra well wishes your way for a great CT!!!

Casey & Kerri Willett said...

Hi everyone! Got good news!! NO new growth on Casey last CT. That is really good news. The more months he puts between the end of Chemo without growth will confirm just scar tissue remains. More bloodwork and chest xray in four weeks. But WOW good news!!! He is very relieved. Thanks for the pouring on of prayers. Please add Casey's ex wife Amy's dad & my friend Cheryl Brown from work to your prayer chains. They where both dio. with cancer in the last week. Thank You again everyone!

Well its been a year already since we started this blog.We hope that everyone has had a very Merry Christmas! We are in the same place today "Metro Hostital" as when I first started tell you all about it! Casey is getting another CT today to see if his back tumor has started to grow or has stayed the same. He has also been diagnosed with Raynauds Phenomenon. This is all about his hand problems that he has been having along from the Chemo damage. His cancer doctor has told him that he will not be returning to work ever. If he isnt really careful it can result in amputation. His name was just called so Ill be signing off now! Take care everyone and Happy New Year!
